Abstract
The cancer is a group of diseases characterized by the increase of cell proliferation due to the accumulation of genetic alterations. This study presents a contribution in the identification and validation of the genes HER-2, LM04 and mamoglobin, and the description of chromosome anomalies in the peripheral blood samples with cancer (breast, colorectal, stomach, lung, and ovarian) in comparison with a control group. The level of gene expression was measured by qPCR and the chromosome anomalies were analyzed by cytogenetic conventional techniques. The expression of Her-2 (40 %) and mamoglobin (60 %) was only observed in the breast cancer group. In contrast, the gene expression of LM04 was only observed in both the breast cancer group (65 %) and in the other groups with different types of cancer (58 %).
