Abstract
This research sought to develop a reflection on the connecting and diverging points on the way of understanding the conceptual dyad Health/Illness in transpersonal psychology, and a traditional indigenous conception, from a poststructuralist gaze. We conducted a participant observation of a Duga ceremony (a traditional indigenous ceremony which revolves around oral tradition through the use of Tobacco and Coca in its traditional forms, mainly belonging to the so-called people of the center in the Colombian Amazon) and a workshop of Okuirede Medicine (contemporary form of medicine that has emerged from the ancestral indigenous knowledge of Yagé, Tobacco and Coca), looking to tale the way of understanding the Health/Illness in these practices. For Transpersonal psychology a documentary research or file analysis was conducted, compiling theoretical understanding and constitution of Health/Illness From the ways of understanding the Health/Illness in psychology and indigenous medicine, meeting points where found resulting from a descriptive analysis of the categories identified. Specifically no points of disagreement were found, but it was evident that indigenous medicine encompasses a number of factors that transpersonal psychology neglects, prompting reflection on possible contributions of indigenous medicine to the transpersonal psychology.
