Abstract
"The objective of this investigation was the experimental measure of the minor losses coefficient in different types of check valves made by the company Helbert y Cia considering the importance of having real values of these coefficients for use in calculating distributions systems of water. To realize the different tests we used the pressure bank of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in which can be assembled five different sizes of pipes, we use ½"", ¾"", 1"", 1 ½"" and 2"" where the check was installed in order to make the complete analysis of flow and pressure through it. The total checks analyzed were 45, for each one were taken ten different flows and pressures that were later treated with different methods and statistical software in order to obtain the value Km of each element. The results vary in a significant way between models and diameters of each check, so each accessory has a different Km value which makes this investigation unsure for some of those coefficients, for that reason there are some recommendations in order to guarantee perfect results in future investigations."
