The Reception of French Historiography in Latin America, 1870-1968Resumen
Abstract
In this paper, the complex panorama of the cultural and historiographic influences that have impacted Latin America are explored. The paper stresses the dominant French cultural and historiographic line together with complimenting parallel lines that, while not dominant, have still been relevant such as the influence of the Germans, British, Italians or North Americans. The author shows the rupture produced by the cultural revolution of 1968 and its effects on Latin America, relating this to the efforts of establishing new historiographic hegemonies.
