Abstract
The machine has become an indispensable tool for the daily life of modern society.
The technological development and the implementation of mechanisms accelerated the processes of interaction between people and their environment, deployed a range of uses and made the machine a facilitator complement of actions that would save unnecessary human efforts. This research work addresses a reflection on the utility or application of the machine in our daily lives. Confronting the relationship between the object and the way in which it is used, the ¡dea that insignificant actions do not require the intervention of the machine is put to the test. Turn off the light of the room, get out of bed in the morning or break an egg at breakfast, are actions that, at first glance, do not suggest the manifestation of the machine to facilítate its realization; however, this work evaluates the intrinsic valué of mundane actions, turning the machine into a cult object that glorifies the austere act of everyday rituals.
The present work shows a journey through history in which a line is drawn between successes and failures of gadgets and mechanisms that were designed to meet austere demands but that did not gain their place in the list of useful inventions for daily life. The research process culminates with the construction of a series of sculptural machines that are relegated from the practical world of effectiveness and open the way to the dream world of the game and the ¡Ilusión.
