Abstract
The saving event of the Cross has been interpreted, since the sixth chapter of Saint John, from a versatile point of view. For this reason, one has to understand the existence of Jesus of Nazareth and Son of God as a permanent process of identification with all mankind. Thanks to Him, mankind remains humanized, redeemed, and deified. The Son of God and Messiah is the Incarnate One, the Proexistant One, the Bread of life, the Crucified-Risen-Living One. Only from this perspective is His death soteriological because He has come to fulfill the Father s will, with His death He gives fulfillment to the Sacred Scriptures, it is a voluntarily, sovereign, and sacrificial death, it is a beneficent and life-creating death, it is a death understood as a rescue, exalted-glorified, it a death like the ultimate expression of solidarity with the crucified ones of today.
