Abstract
The recycling population in Bogotá works in the informality that persists despite the modernization of the economy, without taking into account the social relations and problems that persist there. In the town of Fontibón in Bogotá there is a significant group of recyclers, among them the Association of Recyclers and Environmental Recuperators -ASOREMA, an association that works as a family and living daily on recycling.
This thesis makes a historical and legal recount on how recycling and waste management has developed up to our days and how the importance of recycling and the need to regulate this process arose over time. Likewise, we analyze how capitalism through globalization creates the informal sector on which recycling arises. Informality creates processes that give way to recycling as it currently for these recyclers.
In addition, it will be investigated in a more ethnographic way the associativism and the social capital that are found in recycling thanks to the recyclers, showing the benefits that they have obtained thanks to the association, how they carry out their work now that they are associated and with their families . With the concept of social capital the generational content of the research will be understood and how this notion can be evidenced in the association of recyclers ASOREMA.
