Food insecurity is a problem that is predicted to be exacerbated by the consequences of climate change affecting the crops of subsistence and affecting the poorest. This document explores forests of the municipality of San José del Guaviare as suppliers of food of vegetable and animal origin for the populations of peasants and indigenous people living in the area.
Once identified the products consumed in the area and those that are in the natural supply but have been consumed or consumed little for different reasons, some guidelines are proposed to reduce food insecurity in the municipality based on the environmental management, favoring native products that do not need special growing conditions.
Responsible tourism is also exalted as a source of income and it is hoped that through education and culture the inhabitants will recognize in the forest a source of ecosystem services that directly benefit them for the improvement of the quality of life and thus diminish the deforestation rates.
