The question of this research is genealogical, explores those practices that, being problematic in our present, recognize its multiple emergence in the arbitrariness of disciplinary statements and “scientific” explanations: How have experiences of trans life been linked, in Bogotá , to the problematic category of the monstrous? From Pierre Brunel’s definition of the myth, in the preface of his Dictionnaire des mythes littéraires (1988), characterizing it from his functions: the myth counts, the myth explains, the myth reveals (Brunel, 1988, pp. 8-9), this research is woven into three chapters that show how, from painful strategies and stimulating tactics, it has become possible to inventively vary the myth of “the trans”, into a journey through colonial, nineteenth-century and contemporary texts who enroll in the difficult languages that form the legal-scientific- religious device.
