A proposal to solve the free will problemResumo
¿Somos libres o estamos completamente determinados?
Abstract
Are we free or are we completely determined? This is one of the questions that seeks to answer what in this work we have called ‘the free will problem’. In the first chapter of the thesis, we propose a general understanding of the free will problem in the contemporary age from the compatibilist and incompatibilist positions. In the second chapter we provide the theoretical framework from which the free will problem will be analyzed, for this we explain the concepts ‘know-that’, ‘know-how’ and ‘category mistake’. Based on these concepts, in the third and final chapter we show why the free will problem involves a category mistake and, once we have made this observation, the problem is dissolved.
