The challenge of intercultural bioethics in cases of health, illness and death in the indigenous populationResumen
En esta investigación se propone la bioética como una herramienta de diálogo para abordar algunos aspectos culturales que afectan la vida, la salud, la enfermedad y la muerte de personas con determinada pertenencia étnica. Esto se da con el fin de construir puentes de entendimiento entre la medicina de la sociedad occidental y el saber tradicional de los pueblos indígenas, a través de valores como el respeto, el reconocimiento, la participación y la responsabilidad. Para ello, se realizó un estudio de caso sobre una niña a quien llamamos Silvia, cuya edad era de 13 años, perteneciente a un pueblo indígena y quien recibe un diagnóstico de cáncer durante la atención en salud.
Así mismo esta propuesta busca la identificación de posibles limitantes para establecer el diálogo, al estar relacionados con problemas éticos que surgen durante el encuentro entre diferentes culturas. En tanto se hace necesario evitar situaciones que podrían obstruir los canales de comunicación entre personas de diferentes grupos sociales. Es así como en este trabajo se concluye que la bioética podría tratar de abordar los problemas interculturales por medio del diálogo, ya que la bioética como mediación dialógica permitirá un entendimiento entre diferentes culturales, a través de acercarse a otros saberes y a otras instituciones, con el objetivo principal de proteger los derechos fundamentales.
Abstract
This research is a perspective that considers the bioethics as a tool for to dialogue about the cultural aspects than affect the life, the health, the disease and the death of people who are membership of an ethnic group. It for to build bridges of understanding between the medicine of western society and the traditional knowledge of indigenous peoples, it through of values such as the respect, the recognition, the participation and the responsibility. In the framework of the above mentioned, the research has a case study of a girsl, 13 year old, who has a ethnic identy and who is diagnosed with one kind the cancer.
Likewise, the research looking for to identy the the limits of the dialogue related with the ethical problems that to arise during the meeting of different cultures. It would try to avoid situations that might block the communication channels between different types of social groups. Therefore, this work concludes that the bioethics would try to understand the intercultural problems through the dialogue and it could approach other knowledge or other institutions, with the main objetive the protecting the fundamental rigts.
