Titre anglais
The leap to otherness. Two argentinian metaphysic poets : Roberto Juarroz and Hugo Mujicarésumé
Abstrait
This thesis is a study about argentinian metaphysical poetry, in particular the poetry of Roberto Juarroz and Hugo Mujica. It investigates the relationship between philosophy and poetry towards astonishment. It also takes into account the importance of Modernity and its contribution to poetry with the emergence of the poetic irrationalism and visionary images. From this moment metaphysical poetry gives prevalence to emotion over understanding and aims for a different way of knowing.
Metaphysical poetry is born in the XVII century in England and its main characteristics are the juxtaposition of opposite elements and correspondences; it is a reflexive and dark poetry. From these pillars the Argentinian metaphysical poets come up with a new poetry that inquires about reality. They are able to create a new dimension of reality through their poems.
This type of poetry is closely related to mysticism and metaphysics as they are all looking for a way to express what exceeds us: otherness. To be able to take the "leap to the other shore" depersonalization, listening, the open and inspiration will be necessary. To achieve it Juarroz and Mujica will use mechanisms that cause strangeness that will appear through verticality and the incessant, in each poet.
