Food habits according to the job position, in workers of the food services of the Pontifical University Javerianarésumé
A través de los años, los hábitos alimentarios se han convertido en un tema central de investigación, ya que representan un componente esencial del individuo y son determinantes de su calidad de vida; siendo la condición laboral uno de los factores más influyentes en estos. Debido a que se ha documentado una alta prevalencia de hábitos alimentarios inadecuados en los trabajadores de los servicios de alimentación, el objetivo de esta investigación fue caracterizar los hábitos alimentarios de trabajadores que laboran en dicho sector, según el cargo laboral. Para esto, se realizó un estudio descriptivo de tipo transversal, con muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia. El instrumento utilizado para la recolección de datos consistió en una encuesta virtual que fue aplicada a 74 trabajadores. Como resultados, se encontró que en esta población es prevalente el bajo consumo de alimentos indispensables como frutas, verduras y lácteos. Además, se evidenció que el consumo de carnes, lácteos y alimentos integrales es mayor en los cargos administrativos, mientras que en los cargos operativos fueron prevalentes hábitos alimentarios poco saludables como no desayunar, saltarse las comidas y no tener horarios habituales de consumo. De igual manera, se halló asociación entre el cargo y algunos factores individuales, como la alta carga laboral, la percepción de salud, la morbilidad y la tendencia al exceso de peso. Concluyendo así, que ciertos hábitos alimentarios efectivamente varían en función del cargo y responden al contexto intralaboral, extralaboral e individual.
Abstrait
Through the years, the food habits has become in a research topic central, because it represents an essential individual component and are determinants in their life´s quality; been the work condition one of the more influential of those. Because it was documented a high prevalence of inadequate food habits in the food service workers, the objective of this investigation was characterize the food habits in the workers of this sector, according with the work position. To get this it was made a descriptive cross type study, with a no probabilistic sampling by convenience. The instrument used for the data pick consisted in a virtual poll that was applied to 74 workers. As a results, was found that this population is prevalent the low consumption of essential food as fruits, vegetables and dairy. Besides, it was also evidenced that the meat, dairy and integral food consumption are higher in the administrative positions, while in the operative positions was prevalent the food habits less healthy as don´t take the breakfast, skip the main meals and don´t have and habitual consumption schedule. In the same way, it was found an association between the position and some individual factors, as the high work load, the health perception, the morbidity and the overweight trend. Concluding thereby, that some food habits in fact vary in function of the work position and they respond to the inward work, extra work and individual context.
