The evolution of freshwater ichthyology in VenezuelaResumen
Abstract
Due to the scientific recession that Venezuela has been suffering, it was considered urgent to document the evolution of modern ichthyology in this country to tell another story of its past, in the years between 1958 and 2019, encompassing the bibliographic review of a period 61 years old and implementing virtual ethnography methodologies, in order to document the evolution of the continental ichthyology of that country. The state in which Venezuelan ichthyology is found is a representation of the loss of the notion for the protection of knowledge, not only of a nation, but of humanity. Documenting and disseminating the current state of evolution of Venezuelan ichthyology is an opportunity to praise the work carried out in an extensive water network since the Orinoco Basin is the third largest in America, by a community of vocation, commitment and resistance for the scientific investigation.
