Autobiography and theological method in the thought of J.H.
Abstrait
This research addresses the relationships between the autobiographical narrative and the theological method in the work of J. H. Newman. The approach to the Apologia pro Vita Sua, about the development of his religious ideas, seems to benefit from this perspective and allows us to recognize a whole high-ranking intellectual itinerary within the framework of the most traditional theology, revealing an organic, measured and open method at the service of a vital decision with serious consequences.
So, it will be seen that Newman's theology is, basically, the skillful narration of the divine work in himself, expressed in some valid terms for any authentic religious experience. His autobiography is, thus, the careful exposition of the tasks that a theologian must assume, over and over again, in the loving dedication to his science as a vocation and to the incessant and unconditional search for divine will.
