Towards a theological anthropology in an ecological key. pedagogical elements for reflection from Laudato siResumen
Abstract
The main question of the present degree thesis is to find why the current environmental crisis has an anthropological character? In this sense, three anthropocentric perspectives are presented, one of an instrumentalist, techno-scientific nature, which denies the relationship and influence of the human being with the environment. An ecocentric, based on ecocentric paradigms that are catastrophic in nature and that think of the human being as the only person responsible. Finally, a central position that considers that the socio-environmental crisis can end the life of the human being and the ecosystem that surrounds it. In the first part of this work, a journey was also made through the limits of the theology of the Church and the Magisterium on this matter, which is treated more as a theology of creation and the human being as responsible for said creation. It was also observed that the initial theologies regarding the ecological issue focused more on an ecocentric character. However, it is clear that anthropology cannot stop being anthropocentric, but this anthropocentrism must be rethought looking for an approach to the environmental issue between the two extremes to find a middle ground that tries to understand the human being in his performance in the world .
Secondly, the center of reflection is directed towards the novelty that Pope Francis proposes with the Encyclical Laudato si. It is important to note that the moment the Pope chose for its publication in the midst of three central events is very interesting: “In July 2015 the III International Conference on Financing for Development would be held in Addis Ababa; [secondly] in September, the United Nations summit for sustainable development [and thirdly] in December, the XXI United Nations Conference on Climate Change in Paris. ” (Kaulino, 29007), which would decide the international agenda to take action against climate change. Statement by the Pope that was uncomfortable for some political and economic sectors worldwide. From the theological point of view, up to now, the human being has been considered responsible for creation, but different from it, as lord and being separated from it that separates him from that relational character proposed by Pope Francis. Thus, thinking about the socio-environmental problem in terms of the Pope implies a concern for the care of the common home like a sister, also, the awareness that this care should result in a reduction in poverty and a change in the social model. The Pope's proposal goes beyond the care of interpersonal relationships, it deals with a wide range of human relationships in all areas as proposed in the third chapter.
Third, the proposal is aimed at restructuring the teaching of theological anthropology, for which epistemological elements and pedagogical principles are offered that allow the elaboration of relationships beyond the interpersonal. Laudato si offers a new perspective for the construction of a new relational anthropology that does not place the human being either above or below the creation, but rather as a valid interlocutor, who must be listened to, respected and cared for, because on it depends the very subsistence of humanity as a species. But the relationships at the macro (International), meso (National) and micro (Ecological Citizenship) level must also be taken into account.
