Notes on the experience, reflexivity and agency in the framework of Misión País Colombia: an ignatian university volunteeringResumo
Abstract
A research exercise was carried in order to identify how the volunteer experience of Misión País Colombia (MPC) operated upon the missionary-volunteers through Ignatianism. It started from the questioning on how a paradigm that allows freedom of ways, that dialogues with a society with no unity and a plural individual -in a professional education process-, promotes the attitude of service as a pillar of life on its students. In order to identify the volunteers' experience, it was necessary to review the MPC’s context and the proposal of the experience evaluations and a questionnaire. From its responses, 10 of the people who agreed to be interviewed were selected. As theoretical basis, it was used the notion of experience according to Dubet (2001) and Larrosa (2006), the notion of reflexivity from Donati (1994, 2006, 20011) and the notion of agency in Emirbayer & Mische (1998). As a result, the interviews reported that the experience of MPC was transformative in the interviewees lives, it contributed to their view of service as a choice of life and contributed to their holistic education.
