Instruction manual for peasant housing in La Palma, Cundinamarca. Construction guide for the peasant in times of peaceResumen
Abstract
La Palma, Cundinamarca, has been a place plagued by violence for decades, but its most violent period occurred since 1980, intensifying to its highest point in 2002 when the armed conflict between FARC and AUC displaced more of half of the population that resided there.
Between 2003 and 2004 with the Operation Libertad Uno, the army managed to recover the territory and began the demobilization of AUC, FARC were reduced to the point of having to withdraw and join to other militias outside of the region. With this, the return of the displaced families began.
The instruction manual for peasant housing in La Palma, Cundinamarca aims to help peasants in the construction of housing, providing spatial solutions to the basic problems that arise when they formulating a house by their own hand, in architectural aspects (lighting, ventilation, spatial distribution) and technical (structure, treatment of materials, construction techniques) taking as pillars the physical, historical, social and cultural context that characterize this territory. Through a critical analysis of the context, the reader of this manual will understand the reasons why the project is being developed in this region, based on the problems that affect its people, especially in economic aspects and the access to housing.
A compilation of architectural families allows us to understand the current conditions of rural housing in the region, this allows us to understand the way in which people are inhabiting and living in the region, the different configurations allow us to glimpse the family configurations and the activities that they maintain at home, evidenced in different spatial configurations inside and outside the home.
This manual will be developed as an instruction book where the characteristics of the territory are disclosed, how the house is formulated for that territory from its interior spatial configuration, how this house adapts to the territory, the materials of each of its components and the characteristics of these, in a step by step of how to build the house from its foundation to its gray work.
The effort to apply efficient and little-exploited technologies such as the use of guadua and BTC, which have ideal characteristics for self-built and low-cost housing, must be taken into account, adding environmental advantages and the use of resources.
This project becomes relevant in the regional and temporal context because it contributes to a necessary process for the development and progress of the families that can benefit and is the access to a house that helps to improve the conditions in which the life of the countryside.
