From tropeles, tomas, pintas and camps, to carnivals, abrazatones, velatones and other languages : hegemony and repertoires of student protest in Bogotá (2002-2019)Resumo
Abstract
The repertoires of social protest, in addition to encompassing acts, interactions and performances, are presented as languages that put into play the legitimacy of certain ways of understanding collective action. This is the case of the student protest in Bogota, which showed a transformation of repertoires during the first half of the 21st century. Such change is approached as an expressive dimension, loaded with values, beliefs and meanings, as well as a key instrument for political articulation between groups that were historically separated. Hence, this research is interested in analyzing this process of articulation between 2002 and 2019, through a) the identification of actions, interactions and emerging performances in the modification of the repertoires; b) the analysis of the experiences of students, leaders and student leaders, and their relationship with changes in the repertoires of the protests; and c) the description of the strategies employed by the state to repress student protest and the forms of protest that the movement deploys to evade them.
