¡Me sacan la piedra! : analysis of a conflict between sport climbers and the Colombian Institute of Anthropology and History (ICANH), on the use of Las Rocas del Abra in Cundinamarca, 2017-2021résumé
Abstrait
This work shows the various connections that people have with rocks. Some approach them from science, archaeological exploration and contemplation, arguing their exceptionality in aesthetic and scientific terms. Others do it through touch, contact, sport and leisure. For their part, the local inhabitants, approach them from their memory and their daily lives. Stories emerge from the rocks, a refuge is made, the events of the past are recorded and used in the present for sporting achievements (it is not for nothing that there are a whole series of expressions around climbing to the top of a mountain). But also, some rocks are considered under the category of heritage, whether for their archaeological, natural or scenic value.
In this sense, this research assumes that people interpret rocks in different ways, with opposing visions and different interests, thus creating an ideal setting for conflicts. The intention of this work is to account for a conflict that involves mainly two actors: the Colombian Institute of Anthropology and History (ICANH) and the sports climbers in Valle del Abra, in the village of La Fuente, between Zipaquirá and Tocancipá, as well as these two mayors' offices and the owners of the site. How can the demands of conflicting parties be addressed?
