Evaluation of the mechanical properties of Cured-In-Place pipe (CIPP) lining used for the rehabilitation of wastewater pipelinesZusammenfassung
Trenchless technologies are a set of methods and techniques used for the rehabilitation of underground infrastructure. One of the most commonly used method for the rehabilitation of wastewater pipelines is the Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP). Since the first use of this technology in Colombia, there has not been a thorough research on the mechanical behaviour of installed liners. The review of the mechanical properties of liners is a fundamental part of a quality control program, that allows a comparison against the minimum values established for the lining material, in international standards such as ASTM F1216 and ASTM F2019. In this regard, this article presents an analysis of the mechanical properties obtained in laboratory for flexural and tensile strength tests, for lining materials collected at three sewer rehabilitation projects in the city of Bogotá. The mean values obtained, show that 67% of the tested samples comply with the bending requirements proposed in current regulations and standards. Based on comparisons with similar studies and international trends, this research suggests that the construction process and lining installation activities may play an important role in the results of the material mechanical testing.
