Vampyr : a historical reading from fantasySommario

This research has as main objective to analyse the relation between two opposing sides: fantasy and history, in the novel Vampyr by the Colombian writer Carolina Andújar. In the structure of the novel, there is a direct link from the historical facts to the fantastic writing. Specifically, through the character of Susana Strossner/Erzebet Bathory.
This thesis is divided in four principal segments:
- First, the theoric discussion of fantasy and history.
- Second, the analysis of the bilateral relation between fantasy and history in the narrative of Vampyr, specially in the antagonist of the story.
- Third, it explains the internal system of the novel that helps to understand the connection between fantasy, history and mith.
- The fourth segment where explains what exactly implies the historical/ fantastical exercise made by Andújar in the novel. Besides, this last segment, explores more deeply the kind of fantasy that appears in Vampyr and how it has the crucial characteristics to impulse this type of narrative
