Taking care of my grandfather : Ethnography about the feelings and experiences of family caregivers and patients with metastatic cancerZusammenfassung
Este documento acompaña, mediante la autoetnografía y entrevistas a profundidad, la relación de cuidado que construyen cuidadoras primarias y pacientes con cáncer. El primer capítulo se titula "Navegar en el mundo del cuidado" y plantea conceptos clave como: cuidadora primaria, cuidados de la vida cotidiana, cuidados del padecimiento y cuidados biográficos, así como las categorías de cáncer y fin de vida. El segundo capítulo "Entender y aceptar la enfermedad" profundiza en los hallazgos de campo desde descubrir la enfermedad hasta recibir el diagnóstico, enfatizando en los impactos de la forma en la cual se comunica. Finalmente, el capítulo "Batalla con el cáncer y con el sistema: sobrevivir o aceptar el fin de vida" relata la relación con la espera y el sistema de salud colombiano, relacionándola con los sentimientos y cuidados de pacientes y cuidadoras.
Abstrakt
This document accompanies, through autoethnography and in-depth interviews, the care relationship that primary caregivers and cancer patients build. The first chapter is entitled "Navigating in the world of care" and defines key concepts such as: primary caregiver, daily life care, disease care and biographical care, as well as the categories of cancer and end of life. The second chapter "Understanding and accepting the disease" delves into the field findings from discovering the disease to receiving the diagnosis, emphasizing the impacts of the way in which it is communicated. Finally, the chapter "Battle with cancer and with the system: surviving or accepting the end of life" recounts the relationship with waiting and the Colombian health system, relating it to the feelings and care of patients and caregivers.
