Titre anglais
Antimicrobial resistance phenotypes in strains of Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus viridans group and Enterococcus faecalis isolated from patients who attended an endodontic consultation at the dental research center year 2017-2020résumé
Abstrait
The oral microbiota may be a potential source of antibiotic-resistant bacteria that should be analyzed as a risk factor for human health. In this study, we identified and determined the antimicrobial susceptibility of Gram-positive cocci (GPC) isolated from different samples of oral and endodontic origin. Methodology: Cross-sectional descriptive study that included 180 Gram-positive cocci isolates. Antibiotic susceptibility profiling was performed by Dade MicroScan System/MicroScan Pos ID PC34 (West Sacramento CA, USA) according to current CLSI standards. Primer-specific PCR was used to detect antibiotic-associated resistance genes. Phenotypes were established following guidelines previously standardized by other authors and endorsed by CLSI. Results: The predominant phenotype in S. aureus was BLAC and MR; E. faecalis showed resistance to different aminoglycosides and S. viridans showed 100% sensitivity to β-lactams and two isolates showed resistance to Erythromycin. Conclusion: The study demonstrated the presence of resistant CGP at the buccal level. The phenotypes identified, present a high similarity with resistance patterns reported in other parts of the body.
