Analysis of taste alterations in postcovid-19 patients : a literature reviewZusammenfassung
Background : The WHO decided to add to the clinical symptoms of Covid-19 such as fever, cough, dyspnea and tiredness; olfactory and gustatory dysfunctions. However, there are enigmas regarding the pathophysiology of chemosensory alterations, their prevalence and their duration over time. The subjective data are inaccurate and of relative reliability and the objective data are still a challenge for the operator due to the risk of contagion. Objective: To analyze, in the literature, the changes in chemosensory taste in patients with a history of Covid-19. Methods: In this scope review, a search was carried out using controlled and non-controlled language in the databases of PubMed, Science Direct, Google Academic, Scielo, Redalyc and Embase, inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied. 8 items were obtained, the quality was evaluated according to the STROBE scale. The process was systematized in Mendeley. The purification of the information, the synthesis and summary of the results were carried out. Results: 8 articles with a total of 1334 patients (1064 Covid-19 positive and 270 negative) with no history of gustatory dysfunction, the sense of taste was assessed objectively. Tests were used in strips, aerosols and flavor strips. Of the 8 articles and the positive patients, 199 patients presented ageusia, 242 hypogeusia and 562 normogeusia, however, 176 patients from this last sample presented hypogeusia initially and that months later they presented normality. Dysgeusia was not reported in any case. Conclusions: The alterations chemosensoriales del gusto are a clear symptom of Covid-19, however, there are many gaps regarding its pathophysiology. The type of alteration is directly proportional to the time. Ageusia-like losses are associated with a patient with a severe infection. Hypogeusia is the most commonly reported and evaluated alteration in moderate and mild infections. The loss is temporal in days or months.
