La presente investigación de tipo cualitativo tuvo como objetivo describir las vivencias de niños y niñas con diagnóstico de cáncer frente a la enfermedad. Fue llevada a cabo con niños vinculados a dos fundaciones en la ciudad de Bogotá, se contó con la participación voluntaria de diez niños y niñas, en quienes se exploraron sus vivencias en tres momentos, antes, durante y después de conocer el diagnóstico de la enfermedad. Dentro de los principales resultados se pudo evidenciar que los niños antes de la enfermedad llevaban una vida normal, asistían al colegio y realizaban sus actividades favoritas, no tenían conocimiento o pensamiento alguno frente al cáncer, o tenían ciertos imaginarios. Luego de conocer el diagnostico la vida de los niños sufrió una serie de cambios, ya que giraba en torno a los procedimientos que debían someterse y especialmente la quimioterapia y las reacciones que esta ocasionaba en ellos, además de no poder asistir al colegio ni realizar las actividades cotidianas. Entre los sentimientos que les surgieron se encuentran la tristeza y rabia, manifiestan que las situaciones más difíciles están relacionadas con el tratamiento, las punciones y para algunos estar en la UCI. Aconsejan a niños que deben seguir luchando por sus vidas y que sigan todas las recomendaciones, a los familiares que deben estar más unidos, y al personal de salud que siempre tenga en cuenta a los niños. De otro lado todos (as) se proyectan como profesionales y no ven la enfermedad como un obstáculo para alcanzar sus sueños
Abstrait
This research of qualitative type aimed to describe the experiences of children diagnosed with cancer cope with the disease. It was carried out with children tied to two foundations in the city of Bogota, it is had the voluntary participation of ten boys and girls in who were explored the experiences in three times: before, during, and after getting to know the diagnosis of the disease. Within the main results was demonstrated that the children before the disease had a normal life, were attending school and doing their favourite activities, they had no knowledge or thoughts about the cancer, or had some imaginary. Then to get to know the diagnosis the lives of the children experienced a series of changes because this revolved around the procedures which they should be undergo and especially to chemotherapy and the reactions that this caused on them, in addition to not being able to attend school or perform daily activities. Among the feelings that emerged are the sadness and anger, they show that the most difficult situations are related to the treatment, the punctures and for some of they to be in the ICU. It is suggest to children that they must continue to fight for their lives and follow all the recommendations, to the family that should be more united, and the staff of health that always keep in mind to the children. On the other hand all of them are projected as professionals and do not see the disease as an obstacle to achieving their dreams
