Dialogue Between a Democrat and a Reactionary: Guillermo Hoyos Vásquez and His Phenomenological Reading of Nicolás Gómez DávilaResumen
Este artículo analiza la lectura fenomenológica que GuillermoHoyos Vásquez propuso sobre la obra de Nicolás Gómez Dávila, resalta la peculiaridad de su diálogo y muestra las fuentes de la misma. Concentrándose principalmente en la cuestión del pensamiento reaccionario y en la crítica a la democracia que realiza Gómez Dávila, presenta los motivos de cercanía y de distanciamiento entre los dos autores y propone algunos matices a las ideas de ambos pensadores.
Abstract
This piece is an analysis of Guillermo Hoyos Vasquez’s phenomenological reading of Nicolás Gómez Dávila’s work, it highlights the peculiarity of a dialogue between them and shows its sources. Focusing mainly in the notion of reactionary thinking and in the criticism of democracy developed by Gómez Dávila, it presents their common points and the ones that set them apart and suggests a few important nuances for the views of both thinkers.
