Abstract
The present investigation is framed in the integration of the Sociocultural Theory and the Theory of the Dialogical Self. The main objective was to characterize and analyze the process of construction and transformation of a child's Self, in three different moments (phase 1, phase 2, phase 3), during the transition from preschool to primary school, as well as the development of his Self system. It was used, as a unit of analysis of the Self system, the Dynamic Positioning of the Self (PDS). The participant of our study was a 7-year-old boy from the second grade, at a district school in the city of Bogotá, located in a vulnerable context. It was used a qualitative, longitudinal and idiographic approach for the methodology, with instruments such as semi-structured interviews, direct classroom observations and video recordings of the participant’s interactions with peers and teachers. Regarding the analysis, it was found that the child assumes different PDS throughout the transition from preschool to primary, these PDS are characterized by being dynamic and by emerging from the interactions with significant others, who can promote ore block the development of them. Particularly, in this study, it was found that the child's PDS were transformed in terms of dominance depending of the affective evaluation that they receive from their significant others.
