Resumo
Este trabajo es un análisis que plantea cómo el maquillaje es un elemento fundamental a la hora
de la construcción de la identidad de género. Para esto, se entiende el maquillaje no como un producto
cosmético, sino como un proceso cultural que permite el autocuidado y la visibilización de elementos
no tangibles como la identidad.
A lo largo de este trabajo, se hace una revisión de la historia del maquillaje pasando por Egipto y las
sociedades antiguas hasta llegar a nuestros días, donde se muestra como momentos históricos
determinados se vieron reflejados en cómo se usaba el maquillaje y se cuidaban los individuos.
Asimismo, se hace un análisis de lo que muestra y oculta el maquillaje, planteando que, parte de lo que
este elemento hace visible lo invisible, es el género. Donde este no es más que una construcción y
convencionalismo social.
Igualmente, se hace un análisis de las respuestas dadas en una encuesta por 200 colombianos. Aquí se
contrastan los conceptos desarrollados en este trabajo de grado con la percepción acerca del
maquillaje que tiene la gente. En estas respuestas se evalúa la percepción cultural, el sentir de los
individuos frente al maquillaje como proceso y como producto cosmético.
Abstract
This work is an analysis that raises how makeup is a fundamental element in the construction of gender identity for every person. In this thesis, the concept of makeup is understood not as a cosmetic product, but as a cultural process that allows self-care and the awareness of the own identity.
This thesis travels throught the history of makeup, from Egypt and the ancient societies up to our days, where it is shown its historical moments, where is reflected how makeup was used by everybody as part of a daily routin of self care.
This work analyzes what makeup shows and hides, starting from this, it explains that makeup makes the invisible visible, like gender, which is just a social construction.
Likewise, an analysis is made of the answers given in a survey by 200 Colombians, this survey shows the contrast of the concepts writen in this thesis with the perception that people have about the makeup. In these responses it is shown the cultural perception and the feeling of the of the people about makeup as a process and as a cosmetic product.
