Sommario
Astratto
An exploration of the theory of “negative aesthetics” with an emphasis on the link between the sensibly negative and the morally negative found in the 1853 work titled Aesthetik des Hasslichen (Aesthetics of Ugliness) by German philosopher Karl Rosenkranz. Preceded by a short study of the intellectual basis for aesthetics along with the requirements for any aesthetic judgement and a discussion on the possible place of the concept of ugliness in Immanuel Kant’s Kritik der Urteilskraft (Critique of Judgment) published in 1790.
