Abstract
The priority social interest housing (PSIH) is the kind of housing made for families with incomes up to 2 smlv and its area ranges between 32 and 38m2.
It is estimated that each year, the Colombian government, in agreement with constructors, carries out more than 7000 homes of priority social interest. Having this kind of homes a maximum area of 38m2 and, being generally inhabited by families of 4 members: father, mother, and two children between 8 and 13 years old, there is discomfort at the moment of carrying out them daily activities; this, added to the shortcomings of Infrastructure that houses.
On the other hand, the design of furniture for small spaces, although it is not a subject very explored in Colombia, has been explored in European countries like France and Spain; These countries have múltiple typologies of furniture, focused on mitigating the spatial problems experienced worldwide, and that, as the years pass, due to the population increase, will increase, while reducing the area of housing. Even when multifunctional furniture is a very good option in the face of the problem of space precariousness, its costs are high, which is why it is not affordable to the Colombian population that inhabits the PSIHs.
DIMO is a system of furniture composed by an extensible sofa and a variable table, this, in order to offer the user products that fit their activities, offering them, the opportunity to adapt the furniture to the space according to the need of the moment, with a price they can afford without neglecting the environment.
Our product proposal, seeks to improve the quality of life of those who live in PSIH and offer them the opportunity to purchase affordable versatile furniture.
