Abstract
The project develops its objective in three different scales (neighborhood, block and architectural piece). On the scale at the neighborhood level, I seek to understand the origin, growth and spatial behavior of Getsemaní. The above, in order to recognize the values that will allow me to generate a series of strategies for the neighborhood that will be subsequently applied in the second scale, which corresponds to a model of intervention which is the block 134. To finally make an architectural intervention, coherent with the other scales, based on the historical, spatial and environmental values of the architectural heritage of Getsemaní. In the ante architectural project, the design of a gastronomic market is proposed in response to the demand for a series of cultural activities identified in the area.
Now, the patrimonial neighborhood of Getsemaní in Cartagena de Indias today faces a series of conditions that affect its urban and architectural conservation. The massive presence of an inconvenient architecture that drives the misuse of space against the values of the place. The uncontrolled densification and loss of management of the center of blocks are destroying the function and system of Getsemaní, and as a result the survival and conservation of this neighborhood is engaged. For this reason, the objective of the work is to identify and recognize the values of Getsemaní under a research model that emerges from different scales, to promote the conservation of its heritage as an integral system. Therefore, is important to set a series of interventions and strategies that will be applied in a general way in the whole neighborhood and specially and particularly in to the case study of the block 134, whose suitability will be set as a gastronomic market that will serves as a model of experimentation to generate a cultural, social and tourism boost for Getsemaní.
