Abstract
Currently the believer in her human relations, experiences the diverse tensions and crises present within society and culture. The problem with these human relations is that most of them place the subject at the centre, who constantly turns towards himself, regarding his own satisfaction as a fundamental criteria to select or discard, which results in the other becoming instrumental.
Hence, on a personal level, there is fear of the other, or of every otherness, because it represents a threat to the self. From the ecclesial perspective, the experience that Christian communities conduct in their dominical ritual celebrations should have as a principle solidarity and fraternity. However, many times these become an individual happening where the “I” and “you” do not encounter; bodies do not encounter, nor their diversity, need or historicity, but only gather in the same space. Finally, there is another level in crisis, namely, the theological. If ecclesial relations lack affirmation and recognition of the other as a gift, there is a necessary repercussion in our understanding of God’s action in our reality and relations with others.
The approach presented here, is a re-signification of the value of the other in the encounter with the self. Therefore, I explore how the affirmation and true recognition of the other in our lives, is fundamentally a gift that performs, constitutes and reveals the presence and action of God in the life and story of the believer.
