Abstract
This research was carried out according to a secondary analysis of the databases of the Information System Cuéntame, in which anthropometric data (weight, height) of the beneficiaries included in the Child Development Center program were analyzed, where it was described the initial and final nutritional status of children.
The objective of this document was to analyze the results of the anthropometric indicators (weight for height, height for age, body mass index for age and weight for age), in 74 municipalities of Cundinamarca in 2017.
It was concluded that the figures corresponding to adequate weight for height increased, decreased the risk figures of acute malnutrition, moderate acute malnutrition, risk of global malnutrition and global malnutrition, at the end of the fourth quarter. On the other hand, for the indicator body mass index for age, the figures of overweight and obesity were maintained.
Although the ICBF invests a large amount of its economic resources in the nutritional assessment by anthropometry, there is no institutional policy that generates a positive impact on the improvement of the nutritional status of the children involved.
It is necessary to strengthen the monitoring and nutritional surveillance system, which allows to identify the changes in the nutritional status and that with these results is possible to guide the realization of specific interventions at the individual and population level in the program
