Abstrait
The contemporary literature establishes the pregnancy in teenagers as a social, economic and political phenomenon, which is complex and diverse, and cannot be analyzed in universal terms; it cannot be generalized in terms of its causes or consequences.
The studying of pregnancy in teenagers traditionally has included factors such as the transformation of the women´s life project, the immediate and long term consequences in the mother´s health status, as well as the neonate´s health status; other factors taking into account are: the teenager’s permanence in school, the difficulty to access goods and services and the generation of an income in the future, the familiar and social rejection, the women´s emotional, physical and economic effects, and the consequences over the regional development.
Nevertheless, there are factors that haven´t been considered such as, contextual sociopolitical factors, especially those associated to gun violence, which can play an essential role in the phenomenon configuration.
This study was developed in the town of “San Vicente del Caguán”, territory in which the country´s socio-economic and politic conflict has been historically present. During the study, this territory was one of the twenty four territorial training and reincorporation spaces (ETCR), established to implement the peace agreement with the FARC.
This town was strategically selected as the case study, to be able to understand the role of the Colombian sociopolitical and armed conflict within the pregnancy in teenager’s phenomenon, through the reconstruction of the life stories from seven women living in rural and urban areas.
For the intentional selection, the database of women that attended to prenatal follow up consult, between 2016 and 2017, at “Hospital San Rafael” was used; at the same time, there was a convocatory of three key actors that had played communitarian and institutional roles, that knew the phenomenon closely and that their contributions had modified the women´s perspective.
The study findings showed that the experience of a teenager´s pregnancy has different meanings in terms of age, family network strength, economic vulnerable conditions, family´s educational level, access to goods and services barriers, victimization experiences within the armed conflict and due to other types of violence, between other factors. There was found that the role of armed conflict on the phenomenon configuration is relevant, in such a way that it enhances and reproduces the maintenance of other factors that make the pregnancy in teenagers a common situation in this territory, making it a natural phenomenon, crossed by gender and feminist social constructions, as well as by the women´s role that has been attributed to them by the society; the above, makes legitimate different forms of violence, affecting the women´s wellbeing and determining their choices about maternity.
