Abstract
Belén de Bajirá, located in the Urabá region between the departments of Chocó and Antioquia, is a case of borderline doubt. The doubtful limits between territorial entities of a dependency (Colombia) must be dealt with swiftly so as not to affect budgets, provision of public services, polling stations and mainly to the population.
Ordinance 011 of 2000 issued by the Departmental Assembly of Chocó presented Bajirá as the municipality of the department, an action objected by the Government of Antioquia stating that Belén de Bajirá was a corregimiento of the municipality of Mutatá, and therefore part of its territory. The opening of the issue as a boundary dispute involved the intervention of the Geographical Institute Agustín Codazzi (IGAC) to clarify the situation.
The antecedents in the territorial limits between Chocó and Antioquia and the acquired importance of the issue, question if the conflict responds only to bordering criteria or interests of another type as economic. Posing the possible relation between political action and economic interests in the territorial delimitation, and the social construction of the territory.
