Abstract
My body and the way I am now are the results of a background that is full of contradictions, influences, and problematics that have been generated or built over the years, perhaps unconsciously, and that I now realize have affected my way of experiencing my body. My body is one but at the same time it’s several bodies. It's mine but it's the one my mom wanted to build, it's mine but it's the one my sister influenced, it's mine but it's the one my dad wanted me to be. My body is mine but it is the prejudice of others, the opinion of others, the gaze of another.
All the ideas I have about my body are a compilation of ideas from others that I´ve been convinced of, and from my own that I don't actually know if they are completely mine. Ideas that over time I was building from internalized misogyny that started with family dynamics and that I was taking in year after year. Dynamics that I completely normalized all my life, but now I realize the ways it impacted the ideals I had about my body and other peoples bodies, how I relate to it sexually, what I can say and what should keep silent, or what I should leave for private and what I can modify in public. Thus, my body had limitations that I shouldn’t cross, very fine lines of what is appropriate and what is not, what is respectful and what is not, or what is taboo and what is accepted, only for being a woman .
