Regeneration of central areas in deterioration : Cultural District of Puente ArandaResumo
Abstract
Bogotá is a city that is in constant change and growth, a phenomenon that occurs at a speed such that the structures themselves or pre-stocks do not respond in many cases to the change that is taking place and are stagnant within the city. Puente Aranda is a clear example of what is mentioned above, being a sector that emerges as an industrial center on the periphery of the city, and that as the city grows to the west is enclosed by urban development, so that all the industrial part that gave importance and activity within the sector, and a recognition and relationship with the city, begins to evaporate, because the industries that were located there begin to go to the current periphery of the city leaving disused structures within the sector, spaces that the inhabitants of the sector in search of a source of employment occupy with commercial premises and warehouses as emerging systems that do not adapt the structure or space for use, becoming something spontaneous. All these efforts of the resident population of the sector to reactivate the place are denied by the city, which intervenes and strengthens the limits of the sector and in one way or another increases the pressure exerted by urban planning on the sector, enhancing the negative situation it presents the sector as an island that presents fragmentation in its interior, and that is stagnant within the city.
The proposal is one of the many possible answers that can be given to the uncontrolled horizontal growth of the City through the regeneration of disused Urban Centers.
