The figure of the hussar and the soldier in the poems Los elementos del desastre (1953), Los trabajos perdidos (1965) and Reseña de los Hospitales de Ultramar (1973) by Álvaro MutisResumen
Abstract
The work consists of three chapters. In the first chapter I focused on the hussar, there I explained where this figure comes from, its history, focusing on its role in the armies of Napoleon Bonaparte. In the same way, I analyzed how it looks in the Mutis poems that this work deals with and the different interpretations made by different authors. In the second chapter I stopped at how the figure of the soldier is shown in the poems and his development in the hot land. Likewise, I showed the relationship between the French revolution and the independence of Latin America. In chapter three I will make a comparison between the Byzantine soldier that appears in the story The Death of the Strategist and the Napoleonic Hussar that appears, above all, in the poems The elements of disaster. In this way, I will show what a hopeless person belongs to the army.
