Symbolic Loss in the Maternal Role : the birth of a premature baby, an ecological analysisZusammenfassung
Motherhood is a process that transcends the biological and physical aspects of pregnancy, which breaks with the ideal of beauty, desirability and satisfaction that we have adopted culturally, generating an interest in the psychological impact that takes place.
The present systematization work is based on the process carried out and the learning acquired during the practice of families, links and violence in order to describe and analyze what the maternal role implies, and the emergence of symbolic losses for those women who have experienced the birth of a premature and / or low birth weight baby, users of the Integral Kangaroo Mother Program (PMCI) of the Hospital San Ignacio. Bearing in mind that the human being is in constant interrelation with different systems and symbolic universes that constitute it and surpass the individual scope (onto system) is reflected following the ecological model of Bronfenbrenner where the microsystem, mesosystem, exosystemic and macrosystem constitute scenarios that involve risk factors and protectors that significantly influence the perceptions, ideals, expectations, emotions and actions that emerge from kangaroo motherhood.
In order to carry it out, 46 semi-structured interviews were carried out with 46 mothers of the program whose age range is 15-42 years analyzed by means of the open axial coding of the grounded theory method; where it was found that all women conceive motherhood according to family and cultural influences, this causes that they are lost especially during the knowledge of the news of prematurity, where the PMCI is part of the system that represents a greater amount of protective factors (microsystem), and finding that the risk factors emerge from the microsystem.
