The United States of Disney : the American Way of Life in the Postwar era through cartoonsResumo
Abstract
This undergraduate dissertation has the purpose of making explicit the relationship that has been established between the American Way of Life and the productions of The Walt Disney Studios, there are statements which argue that their cartoons have not only entertained the public but also showed elements of the American culture. With that purpose, it seeks to argue the way in which Disney cartoons have promoted the values and the everyday life of the American Way of Life, particularly through short films in the years following the Second World War when the United States was becoming the main world power in competition with the Soviet Union to have an international influence. This investigation is based in the statements of Constructivism in order to understand the interference which ideas, relationships and context had in the construction of the American identity and the exercise of social actions shown in Disney short films.
