A review of children's periodicals : the birth of Cooltura, the first Colombian children's magazine in 30 yearsrésumé
Abstrait
As consumers of editorial products, we see a gap in the discussion around the
children's periodicals and from this, a need to create a national product
that is inscribed in our reality, especially considering the permanent failure of these
publications. For this, a theoretical review was made around four categories: childhood,
literature, periodicals and marketing, these last three associated with childhood, which
when studying them they allowed to have a panorama and certainty regarding the social historical evolution
of the target audience, discourse and narrative formats, the importance of the ability to
adapt and reinvent themselves based on the contexts and marketing dynamics associated with childhood.
In order to broaden the perspective in terms of what and how content is generated, a
review of 30 publications in 11 countries, based on aspects such as graphic treatment and
material, sections, discourse, periodicity, among others, which allowed establishing guidelines both
as content for the final product: Cooltura Children's magazine. Finally, it was done
an account of the editorial process that involved the construction of said product in which
established production stages that included: visual identity, content selection and
collaborators and diagramming that concluded in the definitions of marketing strategies and
distribution channels
