The epistemological limits of animal research : conflicts of biomedical researchResumen
Abstract
Biomedical research includes experimentation with Animal Research Models (MIA) to anticipate risks and benefits in subsequent research on Human Research Subjects (SIH). The ethical codes endorse this practice because they help protect the integrity of the SIH by providing data related to the risks and benefits that the patient and the committee must take into account to accept or not accept an investigation. However, it is necessary to review the epistemological foundations of the extrapolation of data from MIA to SIH from cases where the translation of results has failed to foresee significant damage to SIH. Based on the foregoing, the ethical implications of an epistemological review of the translation of results from MIA to SIH are explained.
