Narrating the unspeakable : narrative experimentation and literary tradition of violence in La mala hora (1962) and La casa grande (1962)résumé
Abstrait
Taking into account the wave of social and political violence that occurred in the mid-twentieth century in Colombia, its impact not only expands on social, political or economic horizons, but also on aesthetics. This is how this problem challenges the young Gabriel García Márquez and Álvaro Cepeda Samudio, who want to modernize Colombian literature through new readings and debates that, by then, were taking place all over the world. Thus, they take up the debates on the aesthetic avant-garde and Anglo-Saxon modernism that at that time began to spread throughout Latin America. In that sense, what both writers want with their novels is to generate a position regarding violence in Colombia and set a precedent in national literature.
