Vegan feminism in Bogota : collectives and activists resistance to neoliberal globalizationrésumé
Abstrait
The current system of relations and production is strongly influenced by neoliberalism, the most recent phase of capitalism. To maintain and reproduce the neoliberal system it has been necessary to increase exploitation, therefore, production, consumption and accumulation of capital have increased. Hence, it has been required that, through multiple institutions, practices and policies beliefs of domination, anthropocentrism and speciesism are perpetuated. In this sense, both the environment and animals —human and non human— have been subordinated and commodified. As different forms of discrimination are related in the current system, it is possible to stablish a common thread between feminism and veganism; they are articulated not only as forms of resistance, but also to transform the system of beliefs and practices that have led to their subordination. In this order of ideas, the central theme of this research is the articulation between feminism and veganism as forms of resistance to the neoliberal globalization, from an intersectional point of view. Responding to the question: to what extent do activists and organizations that promote intersectional feminism in Bogota articulate with veganism to create spaces of resistance to neoliberal globalization? It was possible to stablish the main points of articulation between feminism and veganism, the factors that limit the articulation and the mechanisms and strategies of resistance use by collectives and activists in Bogota.
