Alternative for obtaining clean water in the Alto Guapaya village of the municipality of Vista Hermosa, Meta: Literature reviewZusammenfassung
Access to clean or potable water is essential to prevent water-borne diseases that affect the quality of life of populations. However, in the Alto Guapaya village of the Vista Hermosa municipality, Colombia, access to clean water and sanitation systems is not guaranteed, so the consumption of contaminated water generates gastrointestinal diseases. For this reason, a literature review was carried out that aimed to identify a viable alternative to obtain clean water in the Alto Guapaya village. For this, five technologies of Decentralized Treatment (DT) of water were analyzed: sand filter, ceramic filter, activated carbon filter, chlorination and nanotechnology by means of a comparison matrix with a main focus on rural environments, in general, acceptability of water, the efficiency of the elimination of microorganisms, the ease of use, the availability of material, the cost aspects were identified as keys for the possible adoption and sustainability of these technologies in the village. This allowed to propose a prototype for the TD of the water that consists of a sand filter, a chlorination system and an activated carbon filter, in order to combine characteristics with a special focus on the elimination of microbiological contaminants to obtaining of clean water for immediate consumption. Simultaneously, three activities were proposed called: 1) Alto Guapaya children interview, 2) Community interview and 3) Community product, to sensitize the community about the use and conservation of water, considering into account the social and environmental context.
