The voices of the territories silenced by the dominant discourse. A press analysis of the approach of the colombian State to the reduction of illicit cropsResumo
Abstract
Illicit crops have been a problem for the colombian State since the middle of the second half of the last century, which is why the reduction of the planted areas has been a constant challenge for the previous governments and for the current one. The strategies for reducing illicit crops have ranged from forced eradication, through the use of glyphosate, and voluntary substitution; however, there is a greater emphasis on the former. The task of reducing the number of hectares planted with illegal drugs brings together various social and political actors. For this reason, this research seeks to answer the question about how the national press portrayed the controversy between the institutions and civil society, regarding the methods of reducing illicit crops, in the first year of Ivan Duque´s government. The results of this research will show the breaking points between the positions of the actors involved; above all, they will make evident the privileged tendency on the part of the national press when reporting on the reduction of illicit crops in the stipulated study period.
