Agroecological architecture and sustainable rural development - Agroecological Center for Production and Rural Tradition : New rurality in the Miraflores municipality, BoyacáResumen
Abstract
The country's rural population has declined considerably in recent decades due to multiple crises in economic, social, cultural and spatial conditions, resulting in high migration rates. According to the observed trends, rural areas are projected as expelling regions. Therefore, this project starts from the need to redirect this reality, considering in turn the manifestation of small proposals thought by peasant inhabitants who currently seek to enhance their profession and daily work in the municipality of Miraflores, Boyacá, in which there is a current loss and limitation of agricultural production that brings with it different problems.
As a starting point, agroecological architecture is proposed as the main concept, the result of fundamental concepts from beginning to end among which are the culture, tradition and identity of the peasant being, bioarchitecture and agroecology, setting the agroecosystem as a structuring of the operation and interrelationships also at the methodological level.
In this way, in the first place, the basic scheme of the Agroecological Plan is projected in the rural extension of the municipality, in which the agroecosystem is broken down and applied as a generator of multiple spatial and functional interrelationships in the territory through its environmental, social and territorial multifunctionality, enhancing not only rural productivity, economy, protection of natural resources and agrarian landscapes, but also the contribution to socioeconomic and cultural balance from the peasant as a source of knowledge and generational educational tool.
Subsequently, the Agroecological Center for Production and Rural Tradition (CAPTC) is planned, which is organized around four types of agroecosystem spaces: agroecological spaces for farmer production, agroecological spaces for farmer learning, administrative spaces, and spaces for community fusion and interaction.
The agroecosystem is conceptually applied to the architectural design from the structuring of the spaces proposed by hierarchies (agroecological terraces) and their interrelationships, generating functions at different levels and involving actors at the social and cultural level (the farmer and his knowledge-learning) and environmental level (crops and natural resources within the construction system). Bioarchitecture is visible in different strategies that seek to minimize environmental impact, generating a harmonious and healthy relationship and functioning in the interior and exterior of the project, and exploring construction techniques that contribute to this same objective.
As a whole, both the Agroecological Plan and the CAPTC respond to the definition of agroecological architecture at a functional, spatial, environmental and conceptual way.
