Guidelines on food and nutrition education for the elderly in the adoption of eating habits and healthy lifestylesResumo
Objetivo: Identificar las directrices en educación alimentaria y nutricional dirigidas a la población adulto mayor reportadas en la literatura científica entre los años 2015 y 2021. Metodología: Se realizó una revisión de literatura haciendo uso de cadenas de búsqueda en bases de datos, se definieron y aplicaron los criterios de selección y finalmente se utilizaron los software NVivo y Microsoft Excel para los análisis cualitativos y cuantitativos de la información obtenida. Resultados: Se obtuvo una muestra inicial de 106 artículos la cual fue depurada para obtener una muestra final de 17 artículos. Estados Unidos fue el país con mayor afiliación de autores y los años con mayor producción fueron el 2017 y 2018. Por otro lado, se identificó que para realizar EAN con el adulto mayor se debe tener en cuenta la duración de las intervenciones y sesiones, el lugar para desarrollarlas, es necesario conocer las estrategias metodológicas adecuadas y hacer uso de los modelos de mayor efectividad con esta población. Conclusiones: Se evidenció que realizar intervenciones con actividades prácticas brindan al adulto mayor herramientas que fomentan su independencia y actividad física. Además, para que el adulto mayor genere cambios es necesario el uso de modelos que permiten reconocer las barreras, motivaciones y beneficios percibidos al realizar cambios de comportamiento para la toma de buenas decisiones alimentarias.
Abstract
Objective: To identify the guidelines in food and nutritional education aimed at the elderly population reported in the scientific literature between 2015 and 2021. Methodology: A literature review was carried out using search chains in databases, they were defined and The selection criteria were applied and finally it will be used in the NVivo and Microsoft Excel software for the qualitative and quantitative analyzes of the information obtained. Results: An initial sample of 106 articles was obtained, which was refined to obtain a final sample of 17 articles. The United States was the country with the highest affiliation of authors and the years with the highest production were 2017 and 2018. On the other hand, it was identified that to carry out EAN with the elderly, the duration of the interventions and sessions, the place to develop them, it is necessary to know the appropriate methodological strategies and make use of the most effective models with this population. Conclusions: It was evidenced that carrying out interventions with practical activities provide the elderly with tools that promote their independence and physical activity. In addition, for the elderly to generate changes, it is necessary to use models that allow recognizing the barriers, motivations and benefits perceived when making changes in behavior to make good food decisions.
