(Re)sowing the territory, harvesting the tranquility : The experience of the association ASOAGROGUAPAYA in Vista Hermosa, MetaResumen
Abstract
Located on the foothills of the Serranía de la Macarena is Alto Guapaya, a small hamlet that since 2011 has been fighting to transform, from the grassroots of the community, the illicit economies and to recover the agricultural traditions brought by the first settlers who arrived in the area. The (re)siembra (or (re)sowing) of the territory is birthed by the people who live the armed confrontations in the flesh, during a period where the only sustainable economy for the population was coca leaf, and where necessity and violence stalked entire families. Said initiative comes from the knowledge(s) of the community, and has become a repertory of action that has expanded and managed to consolidate itself in the zone. Furthermore, it has also adapted to new contextual conditions, such as the Peace Agreements between the Colombian State and the FARC-EP. Throughout time, it has grown stronger and has found the possibility to build new dialogues with different actors, creating new horizons and harvesting tranquility. The case study exposed here seeks to approach and learn from the experience of (re)siembra that the association ASOAGROGUAPAYA has constructed, recognizing the importance of its process and analyzing it from the lens of the localized peace agency and everyday peace building, with the possibility of convergence with other actors trough hybrid models of peace.
